The Giggles is operated by Active Luton. As a Community Wellbeing Charity, Active Luton’s mission is to make a positive impact on the health and wellbeing of its community, inspiring, motivating and offering opportunities for people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities to learn and take action to improve their life chances.

Play to Develop / Why Play?

At The Giggles, we know that play is far more than just fun and games – it’s crucial for childhood development. Active, imaginative play helps children build stronger bodies, it sharpens coordination and balance, whilst also giving them the space to experiment, take risks and learn resilience. Play fosters confidence, social skills such as cooperation and empathy, emotional regulation, and language , as children negotiate rules, work with others, and express ideas. Research shows that unstructured, child-led play is strongly linked to gains in executive function, self-regulation, problem-solving, and overall cognitive growth.

The Giggles is actively contributing to delivering the Luton 2040 vision of a child-friendly town, by giving children safe, enriching spaces to play and grow. Our work also aligns with Active Luton’s strategy, which prioritises giving children the best start in life, promoting wellbeing through inclusive access to physical activity, and tackling inequalities in health.
